Cougars Add Two New Staff Members

Coastal Bend College Director of Athletics Paul Cantrell announced today the addition of two new members of the Cougar Coaching staff. They are Assistant Women's Volleyball Coach Macy Olness and Assistant Men's Basketball Coach Dantonio "DJ" Evans.

Macy Olness joins the CBC family after spending the past two seasons as the Assistant Coach at Frank Phillips College. During the 2015 season, Olness helped steer the Lady Plainsmen to the 2015 WJCAC Division I Championship. She is a 2015 graduate of the University of the Southwest (NM) where she played four years for the Mustangs, capturing the NAIA Champions of Character Award in in 2012, 2013, and 2014; the Daktronics NAIA Scholar Athlete Award in 2013 and 2014, and University of Southwest's Scholar Athlete of the Year Award in 2015.

"DJ" Evans comes to Coastal Bend after spending the last season as a part of NCAA Division I, University of Albany (NY) basketball staff where he served as the team's video coordinator. Evans is a 2014 graduate of Albany and of East Mississippi Community College in 2012. During Evans playing career, he was NJCAA Division I All-American 2nd Team during the 2011-2012 season as his East Mississippi Lions captured two NJCAA Region 23 Championships in 2010-2011 and 2011-2012 season. Evans took his winning ways to the University Albany where he was on two America East Championship squads in 2012-2013 and 2013-2014. Evans was the team's most valuable player and a member of the America East Tournament team in 2014 when the Ram's advanced to the second round of the NCAA Division I Basketball Championships. Evans completed his playing career in Switzerland playing professionally for LNA Fribourg Olympic.
