Women's Basketball Duo Sign to Four Year Programs

The 1-2 punch for CBC Women's Basketball this past season both recently signed to Adams State University and Our Lady of the Lake University, respectively.

Darius Whittington recently signed her National Letter of Intent with NCAA Division II Program, Adams State. Whittington averaged 14.0 Points per Game for CBC, as she doubled her scoring from her freshman year. The Corpus Christi native also averaged 4.4 Rebounds per game and 2.5 Assists during her 22 contests this past season.

Coach Nate Purswell on Whittington: "Darias is a player that puts you in a position to win basketball games.  She attracts attention defensively because of her ability to score in multiple ways.  She has helped build Coastal Bend College by working hard on and off the court, striving to be a great example for future players that enter the Coastal Bend program.  Darias will help Adams State immediately by being a formidable force by her offensive production for herself and her teammates!

Samantha Atkinson-Roach, from Katy, Texas has been a consistent scorer for the Cougars and will be taking her basketball skills to Our Lady of Lake University in San Antonio, Texas, as well as continuing her academic career. Atkinson-Roach averaged 14.0 Points per game, 2.9 Assists per game and 2.4 Rebounds per game for CBC.

Coach Purswell on Atkinson-Roach; "Sam is the type of player that can keep in the game by finding teammates and scoring the ball when she needs to. She'll always be the first one on the floor for a loose ball and is a true competitor and embraces the high pressure moments. I'm looking forward to seeing her play at OLLU, Sam always gives her best effort on and off the court."
