Shreveport, LA — Two former Coastal Bend College baseball standouts, Ryan Davenport and Cobe Reeves, have etched their names into college baseball history as key contributors to LSU Shreveport's perfect 59-0 season, culminating in the 2025 NAIA National Championship. The Pilots are now the first college baseball team at any level to finish a season undefeated — a feat that cements their place in the record books.
Ryan Davenport: Offensive Spark Plug
Davenport, a senior utility player from Dripping Springs, Texas, played a vital role in LSU Shreveport's offensive firepower. Over 57 games, he hit .425 with 82 hits, 65 runs scored, 16 doubles, 2 home runs, and 52 RBIs. He came through in clutch moments, particularly in the NAIA semifinal win over Hope International, where he drove in four runs with a pair of timely two-RBI singles to help the Pilots advance with an 11-4 victory. In the championship game, Davenport went one for three at the dish with three RBIs and also drawing three walks in the championship sealing game.
His consistent production, leadership, and ability to play multiple positions made him one of LSU Shreveport's key contributors to their perfect championship campaign.
Cobe Reeves: Southpaw Stability
Senior left-hander Cobe Reeves, a south Texas native, added valuable depth and poise to the Pilots' pitching rotation. Appearing in 16 games, Reeves contributed to a staff that posted a dominant 2.10 team ERA while racking up 112 strikeouts on the year. Reeves picked up several key wins, including an April 12th outing against Southwest, where he improved to 12-0 on the year.
Reeves's command, maturity on the mound, and ability to neutralize left-handed hitters gave LSU Shreveport an edge in both the regular season and the postseason. The CBC alum was also named to the 2025 NAIA Second Team All-American by the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) and Rawlings.
From Coastal Bend College to the National Stage
Before becoming national champions at LSU Shreveport, both Davenport and Reeves were key contributors to Coastal Bend College's historic 2021 run to the NJCAA Division I World Series — the first in program history. Their time at CBC laid the groundwork for their development as high-level college athletes and set the tone for the winning mentality they carried forward.
From Beeville to Shreveport, their journey is a shining example of the role junior college baseball plays in developing championship-caliber talent. As LSU Shreveport celebrates perfection, Coastal Bend College proudly salutes two of its own for helping write one of the greatest stories in college baseball.
