Seguin, Tx- On valentine's day the we able to manufacture 11 runs off 12 hits in the win over Alvin college Friday at Huber Ranch. Alvin College was the first to score on in the top of the first inning with a single run, but the cougars answered back by scoring five in the bottom of the second. They eventually put the game away with a homerun from Avery Hearn that plated three runs. The final score was 11-6 with CBC on top.
Game two VS Laredo College the cougars capitalized early scoring 1 run in the 1st and then 2 more in the 4th. Freshman Brooklyn Balderas had 2 hits with a double and RBI early in the game. As the game progressed Madysen Parker went 2-2 with a home run and 2 rbi's which helped propel the cougars to a 7-5 win over the Palominos.
On Saturday it was a tough day on the field for a normally sure-handed Coastal Bend College softball team. The Cougars fell to two of their three opponents. Beat Ranger College 5-4, lost to Temple College 2-3 and lost to Laredo College 8-9 in extra innings.
Notables:
· Felicity Alamillo had a stellar day at the plate as she posted four hits in six at bats, with a stolen base and double.
· Freshman, Aileen Campos finished the third game of the day going three for four with 2 runs, a double, 2 rbi's and a home run.
· Sophomore, Madysen Parker helped propel the team ahead of Ranger college with a home run which plated 2 RBi's
The second day of the tournament were games the young Cougar team will look back and learn from as they committed four errors in the two losses. CBC took an early lead in two of the three games on Saturday. Amanda Aguirre went 6 complete innings with 7 strikeouts, 3 hits and only 1 earned run in the lost against Temple College. The Cougars pick back up against Hill College in Hillsboro on the Friday the 21th and then travel to San Antonio to take on Trinity University, February the 22nd.
Coastal Bend College Softball currently holds a record of 7-2. That record marks the best start to a season in CBC Softball history.
